Shadowrun TCG — test build
==========================

Built from Godot 4.7.1. Everything the game needs is inside the one executable
(or, on macOS, inside the .app) — there is no installer and nothing to set up.
The game writes saved decks to your user profile, not to this folder, so you can
put it anywhere and delete it when you are done.

The build is unsigned by any recognised developer. It is not malware, but both
macOS and Windows will say something to that effect the first time you open it,
and the steps below are how you get past that. Nothing here needs admin rights.

macOS (ShadowrunTCG-macos.zip)
-------------------------------
Works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, macOS 11 or newer.

1. Unzip. You get "Shadowrun TCG.app".
2. Move it out of the Downloads folder — put it in Applications or on the
Desktop. (Apps left in Downloads are treated more harshly by Gatekeeper.)
3. Open a Terminal and run this, so macOS stops treating it as a quarantined
   download:

       xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Shadowrun TCG.app"

Adjust the path if you put it somewhere else. You can drag the .app onto the
Terminal window instead of typing the path.
4. Double-click it.

If you skip step 3 you will get "Shadowrun TCG is damaged and can't be opened."
That message is misleading — the app is fine, it is the quarantine flag talking.
Run step 3 and it will open.

Windows (ShadowrunTCG-windows.zip)
-----------------------------------
64-bit Windows 10 or 11.

1. Unzip anywhere.
2. Double-click ShadowrunTCG.exe.
3. SmartScreen will show a blue "Windows protected your PC" box. Click
   "More info", then "Run anyway".

Some antivirus products are suspicious of any unsigned game executable that
carries its data inside itself, which this one does. If yours quarantines the
file, that is a false positive.

Linux (ShadowrunTCG-linux.zip)
-------------------------------
64-bit x86 (Intel/AMD). Not ARM.

1. Unzip.
2. Make it executable and run it:

       chmod +x ShadowrunTCG.x86_64
       ./ShadowrunTCG.x86_64

The zip should preserve the executable bit, but some unzip tools drop it, hence
the chmod. The game renders through OpenGL 3.3 (GL Compatibility), so it wants
working graphics drivers but nothing exotic.

Playing it
----------
The main menu offers Play, Deck Builder and Quit. Four starter decks ship with
the build. In the Deck Builder, decks you create are saved to your own profile
and appear alongside the starters; the starters themselves are read-only, and
saving an edited starter saves it as a new deck of your own.

In the Deck Builder, point at a card in either list to read it in the middle.
Double-click a card, or press + on its row, to add a copy; press - on a deck
row to take one out. The + and - keys do the same for the selected row, the
arrow keys move through a list, / or Ctrl+F jumps to the search box, and
Ctrl+S saves.

Controls are mouse-driven: left-click selects a card, right-click inspects it,
and Enter ends the current phase.

If it does not start
--------------------
Run it from a terminal (or Command Prompt) rather than by double-clicking — the
game prints the reason it gave up to the console, and that message is far more
useful than "it didn't open". On macOS the executable inside the bundle is:

    "/Applications/Shadowrun TCG.app/Contents/MacOS/Shadowrun TCG"
